Packing for a hospital stay can be as daunting as folding a fitted sheet – nearly impossible, right? But as your due date approaches, it’s time to start thinking about packing your hospital bag. 35 weeks is a great time to get started. It can be overwhelming trying to remember everything you might need for the big day, but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with a printable hospital bag checklist and I promise what’s listed is everything you need and nothing you don’t.
I’ll promise you this too, it’s unnecessary to pack a suitcase you won’t even use half of the stuff in it. You’ll be busy trying to have a baby and super exhausted afterward. While some will tell you, you need to bring your entire house, take it from a labor and delivery nurse, you don’t.

Remember, there is a lot you will receive from the hospital from mesh underwear, pads, tuck pads, and pacifiers to baby formula. Those things aren’t necessary to bring to the hospital. Save what you’ve purchased for home.
1. Essential toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Travel-size toiletry bottles for your shampoo and conditioner.
2. Comfortable clothing such as loose-fitting pajamas, slippers, and socks.
3. Personal items like a phone charger, headphones, and a Kindle or magazines.
4. Snacks and drinks for energy during labor or recovery if allowed.
5. Nursing bras and breast pads for breastfeeding moms.
6. Important documents such as ID, insurance information, and birth plan.
7. Baby essentials like diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and blankets. Some items the hospital will supply.
8. Pain relief options such as a heating pad or essential oils.
9. A comfortable pillow or blanket from home for added comfort during your stay. For some of us, this is a must. LOL.
10. Leak-proof travel accessories.
11. An organizer for your toiletries.
