Rip PlayStation Showcase? 😅 😍 Yesterday, we got to see the Xbox Games Showcase and the PC Gaming Show. I had a blast watching the live stream on Twitch with cool reactors like Lirik, Cohhcarnage, and Quin69. There's nothing quite like the raw, unfiltered feedback of a live audience, and the reactions were priceless.Here are my key takeaways:🌟 Gaming is not just surviving, it's thriving! It continues to dominate the media entertainment world, proving once again why it's the go-to form of entertainment for so many. The future of gaming looks bright and promising, with a diverse range of genres ensuring there's something for everyone.💰 Gaming remains the cheapest form of entertainment. This is especially true considering that the majority of the games featured will be included in the Xbox Game Pass.🌈 We're witnessing the dawn of a new golden age of gaming. After a drought last year, we're now being spoiled with brand new IPs. From the Star Wars Outlaws by the Division devs to the much-anticipated Starfield, the creativity is off the charts!👩💻 The barrier to game creation has never been lower. We saw several games from solo developers, like Ferocious and Road to Vostok, proving that you don't need a massive team to make a massive impact.🏕️ The survival genre was out in force, with a slew of new games announced. This is not surprising albeit interesting - with games playing such an instrumental role in the digital leisure category, it makes sense that women will be a major audience. 47% of console gamers in the US are women. 52% of Nintendo Switches are female-owned. 45% of Xbox X|S consoles are women-women.Women also make up 50% of PC video game players and 54% of mobile game players. The state of modern gaming is... bad. I recently purchased an Xbox again after 4 years of not having a console, it was mainly a nostalgic purchase reflecting on the core memories of playing classic titles which still hold up to this day. After 2 weeks of playing, I experienced unfinished AAA titles, over-monetization, and a multiplayer experience that felt like a chore. Most AAA releases nowadays are suffering from a lack of imagination and innovation. Back in the day, games were made by a bunch of really passionate nerds and now they are being pushed to release unfinished games just to meet deadlines.Do you remember the days when you could unlock everything in the game simply by playing and progressing through the campaign and creative challenges? Fornite changed the industry forever by releasing the core game for free and practically charging for everything afterward. The now-normal "season pass" pay-to-play format allows players to make cosmetic and favorable purchases on the in-game marketplace.The goal used to be to make an enjoyable game, not to find the most efficient way of extracting money from the consumer.Don't get me wrong, there are still fantastic games and developers out there who prioritize quality and player satisfaction. The greatest thing that gamers hold on to, and it's something so important, is the impact gaming has on our lives—a legacy we could try to pass down to our kids or share with our family, friends, or significant others is s that how gaming impacted our life? Remember when you were a kid playing Nintendo 64, holding that weird controller in your hand? You mastered it, had fun with it, and enjoyed playing Super Mario or whatever the case may be.I remember holding that Game Boy, playing Pokemon Yellow version and Red/Blue, and just going out and exploring the world with my Game Boy and Game Boy Advance.Or seeing the development into the first PlayStation or Xbox. Being part of this generation and evolution of video games and experiencing that progression and advancement of gaming is truly powerful.
