How To Make Halloumi Fries

Halloumi Fries Recipe - Crunchy Low Carb & Keto Friendly - Just 1 Ingredient (2)
  1. Slice the halloumi into fries at least 7mm/0.3in thick and sit on a paper towel to dry.
  2. Place the tallow into a large non-stick frying pan and place over medium to high heat. You want the tallow to be around 170C/340F.
  3. Gently add the halloumi pieces. I suggest using a pair of tongs as the tallow will spit hot fat.
  4. Once all the halloumi is added, cover the pan with a splatter guard.
  5. Cook the halloumi for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crunchy.
  6. Serve with a side of Low Carb Marinara Sauce for dipping.

Olive oil works. This is a brilliant recipe. Thank you!! For those of us who miss a side order of fried potatoes, or “Chips” as we call them in England… and are on a KETO diet… This is a real winner!!

  2. Can I use butter instead of lard?

    Reply

    • Hi Miriam,

I don’t recommend butter, as the milk solids will burn before the halloumi gets crispy. You could use tallow, coconut oil, or avocado oil instead.

    • Just made them with coconut oil since I had so much relative to a small amount of beef tallow. I loved the flavor they took on, not over powering at all- to me
